Furusato

2424 Kalakaua Ave.
Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort
Honolulu, HI 96815

Restaurant Description:

It’s tucked off Waikiki’s main thoroughfare in the shadow of a Hyatt hotel, but don’t let the exterior fool you. Furusato is a near-hidden icon, a longtime Japanese fixture across Kalakaua Avenue from Waikiki Beach. Step inside and you’ll find a cozy sushi bar with just a few tables. The view of the ocean and the mix of tourists and locals make this a good spot for people-watching. Menu highlights include udon noodles and other Japanese standards, but it’s the sushi everyone comes for. Try the Hawaiian bridge, a tiered display of assorted rolls and fresh nigiri sushi for two served on a wooden bridge that arcs across the table. Paired with a chilled glass from Furusato’s sake menu, it’s a pleasant way to cap off a day in Waikiki.
