This bustling restaurant does its menu of Japanese set meals and specialty appetizers exceptionally well and has put together a fine sake list of about a dozen labels. Appetizers include crispy soft-shell crab and refreshing cold ohitashi (cooked spinach with shaved bonito flakes), with teriyaki, tempura and donburi among the entree offerings. There is a complete list of vegetarian sushi items and unusual combinations such as the Rock 'n' Roll (eel and avocado), San Francisco (tuna, avocado, tobiko and lettuce) or Spider Roll (soft-shelled crab and cucumber). Refreshing desserts include a miniature pear poached in honey syrup or green tea ice cream marbleized with a green tea sauce garnished with intricately carved fresh fruit. The artful kaiseki meals (an eight-course series of small dishes) are delightful.
